It started with a conversation — the kind you have at 11 PM when you're scrolling through photos of places you've never been, and someone says "let's actually do this."

March 2021. The world was still figuring itself out post-pandemic, and I had a week off. Meghalaya had always been that place — the one in the back of my mind.

Arriving in Shillong

The flight from home to Guwahati, then a 3-hour drive up winding mountain roads. I remember the moment we entered the clouds — literally drove through them. The air changed. The light changed. Something in me changed.

Cherrapunji and the Root Bridge

Nothing prepares you for the trek to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge. I knew it was famous. I'd seen the photos. But walking through that canyon, descending 3,500 steps into a village that feels untouched by time — that's different from any photo.

The bridge itself is something else. Living roots, guided over decades by Khasi villagers, forming a functional, load-bearing bridge over a rushing stream. It's not just beautiful — it's patient.

Coming Back Changed

I flew home five days later. I looked the same. I wasn't.

That's how Inizio Trips started. March 2021. One trip that was supposed to be a holiday.
